Nove Colli, the timeless appeal of the oldest granfondo

May is Nove Colli month. The Romagna granfondo, with over 50 Years years of history behind it, is the oldest and most followed amateur race. It was in 1971 that the granfondo was held for the first time. Organized by the “Fausto Coppi” Cycling Touring Group to celebrate the great champion from Castellania, it still retains its original appeal today. Around 9,000 bib numbers will line up at the start in Cesenatico for Nove Colli 2022, with the start scheduled for Sunday, May 22.

At the heart of the race are the nine hills that give it its name, to be tackled in a succession of emotions all the way to the finish in Cesenatico, which coincides with the start. Barbotto, Passo delle Siepi, Gorolo: these are just some of the legendary climbs amateurs encounter along the Nove Colli route, for a total of about 200 km and 3,800 m of elevation gain. For those seeking a more approachable challenge, the 130 km route is the ideal alternative. And the offer is completed by the Mini Nove Colli. Entirely dedicated to young cyclists aged 7 to 14 Years, it unfolds on a circuit of about 5 km.

Official apparel and accessories

Nove Colli celebrates the spirit of cycling, giving everyone the chance to test themselves on their bike. As in every sport, cycling apparel and accessories play a key role. Nove Colli 2023

After the enforced break in 2020 and the return in 2022, the 52nd edition of this historic granfondo brings back the features that made it so popular. A captivating journey between land and sea is the postcard-worthy setting through which cyclists move, with start and finish always in Cesenatico. More information on the 2023 edition, such as the route and registration opening, will be available from February 2023.
