Castelli: Cycling Clothing for Men and Women

Castelli: the scorpion that changed cycling apparel

Castelli’s story began in Milan in 1876, in Vittore Gianni’s tailoring workshop, long before the scorpion became one of the most recognisable symbols in cycling. The first garments made for Alfredo Binda marked the beginning of a journey in which textile tradition and the pursuit of speed developed side by side. In 1974, Maurizio Castelli shaped the brand’s modern identity and, a few years later, introduced aerodynamic Lycra cycling shorts for both professional racing and the wider public. Since then, Castelli cycling apparel has continued to evolve around one precise question: how can cyclists become more efficient, better protected and free to focus entirely on the road? Every detail, from seam placement to moisture management, follows this approach. It is an Italian story built on tangible innovation, capable of turning technical cycling apparel into an active part of performance.

From the greatest teams to the days that made history

Professional racing has always been Castelli’s most demanding testing ground. The brand has supplied champions and teams such as Team Sky and INEOS Grenadiers, contributing to victories in the Grand Tours, and continued its technical development work with Soudal Quick-Step. The Castelli Gabba represents this connection better than any other garment: at the 2013 Milan–San Remo, many riders wore it with the logo covered because it delivered protection and aerodynamics where traditional rain jackets reached their limits. The jerseys of the Giro d’Italia also reflect Castelli’s deep connection with elite cycling, turning professional cycling apparel into an experience accessible to every enthusiast.

Performance, protection and comfort designed as a system

Castelli does not design isolated garments, but solutions that work together. Castelli cycling jerseys combine a close fit, ventilation and stable rear pockets, while Castelli bib shorts focus development on seat pads, muscular support and freedom of movement. When wind, rain or temperature changes affect the ride, Castelli cycling jackets and a cycling vest allow protection to be adjusted without restricting movement. The system is completed by technical base layers, cycling skinsuits and compact accessories. Construction follows the position adopted on the bike: panels, zips, hems and fabrics are placed to reduce creasing, chafing and wasted energy. The ability to move moisture away from the body and keep each garment stable also becomes part of performance. Gabba, Perfetto, Free Aero and Espresso express different interpretations of the same principle: remove everything that interferes with pedalling and retain only what improves fit, thermoregulation, aerodynamics and practicality.

A recognisable identity for every way of riding

Castelli maintains an instantly recognisable language: clean lines, precise fits and solutions developed through racing experience. Men’s cycling apparel and women’s cycling apparel feature dedicated anatomical constructions while maintaining the same focus on performance and comfort. Riders can choose a close-fitting cut for speed or a more versatile fit for training and long distances. Gloves, socks, arm warmers and shoe covers complete an outfit designed for racing, gran fondos, travel and long days in the saddle, when conditions and intensity may change several times.
