Northwave Extreme: cycling shoes for road, MTB and gravel

Northwave Extreme: shoes designed to turn power into speed

When pace and intensity increase, the shoe becomes an essential part of the system connecting rider and bike. The Northwave Extreme range is designed to deliver support, precision and direct power transfer through stiff soles, wraparound constructions and micro-adjustable closure systems. Road models are joined by solutions developed for cross-country and gravel, all sharing a clear performance-oriented approach. From accelerations on tarmac to repeated efforts on unpaved routes, these high-performance cycling shoes are designed for riders seeking stability and control when pedalling becomes more demanding. The choice therefore begins with the discipline, moving between road cycling shoes, gravel shoes and specific mountain bike models.

Veloce Extreme and Extreme Plus: two interpretations of road performance

The Veloce Extreme, developed in Italy with input from Filippo Ganna, represents the most race-focused interpretation of the range. Its unidirectional carbon PowerShape HT sole integrates arch support and a raised structure around the heel, designed to stabilise the foot during intense efforts. The Extreme Plus instead features the fully carbon PowerShape Carbon 15 sole, combined with an Underlap construction developed to distribute closure pressure evenly. Both models use two independent dials to adjust the forefoot and instep separately. The choice depends on the desired level of support, foot shape and intended use, without overlooking the correct combination of road bike pedals and compatible cleats.

Extreme X and Extreme XT: stiffness and control for MTB and gravel

Away from tarmac, pedalling efficiency and stability must work together with traction, protection and the ability to walk short sections. The Extreme X uses a Hyperlight HT full-carbon sole with arch support, replaceable studs and a construction aimed at riders seeking maximum responsiveness in cross-country and gravel racing. The Extreme XT instead adopts the Carbon XC 12 sole, featuring a carbon insert in the pedal area and greater flexibility through the midfoot, helping balance power transfer and comfort over longer distances. Both models include abrasion-resistant reinforcements and a secure wraparound fit. To complete the setup, choose MTB pedals and cycling cleats that match the system being used.
